Faugeres Clos Fantine 2021

Faugeres Clos Fantine, natural wine, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, pure Languedoc, herbaceous aroma, body and structure with a whiff of residual CO2.  The vines are not far from those of the uber famous Faugeres producer Leon Barral.  The style is slightly different.  Clos Fantine has structure, ripe, dark fruits and concentration from very low yields.  The vines have been organic for decades although they are not certified.  No sulphur is added to the wine at all.  Instead they capture a touch of natural CO2 during the fermentation.  This gives the wine a lovely fresh zipp which keeps it light and very easy drinking.  Faugeres Clos Fantine is delightfully easy drinking red wine.  It is very versatile but with some grilled lamb, Rosemary and potatoes, it is perfect.
